Need onions and seed potatoes for 2025? You need to think ahead.
Nobody likes waste, and streamlining our delivery not only keeps the cost down, but minimises waste.
You need to visit us to order your seed potatoes and onion sets before November 2024, for delivery Late Jan early Feb 2025. This is the only way to secure the variety you want.

There has never been a better time to have an allotment. We know that with Covid, people were still encouraged to visit their allotments during lock down for all the mental health and exercise benefits. We also now have the added issues around the cost of living etc. The result is that allotments have become very popular.
If you have an allotment with us, please make sure you visit your plot regularly and keep it cultivated. Regular inspections are on going and anybody clearly not visiting or tending to their plot will be given notice to leave. Please also get in touch (via shop) if you are having difficulties tending to your plot as we will always try and and help you were we can.

Swiss Cottage is an Allotment Association just off Ascot Drive in Derby. The site has a well stocked shop with car park that sells everything from seeds to specialist fertilisers. The site covers 4.8 acres and accommodates just over 60 plots. Water is available through the summer months from taps dotted around the site. This site was established in the 1950s.
The Allotments are situated at the end of Sandown Road next to Ethiprint Ltd. Each plot holder is issued with a key (upon receipt of a deposit) as Swiss Cottage has secured access at all times outside of the shop hours.
Members of the public and plot holders from other allotments are more than welcome to join with an annual membership fee of £1.20.
The Trading post
At Swiss Cottage we have ample car parking space and staff on hand to give advice and to load your car up with whatever you have purchased. So you don't need to worry about lifting heavy bags to your vehicle.
If you call in at the right time, you may even be offered a hot drink........
Please support your local community by shopping at the Swiss Cottage Trading Post!!!..... but why would anybody want to line the pockets of big multinationals who doesn't really care about their customers.
Our prices are very competitive and pride ourselves by offering our customers a better service than the local DIY stores. We work hard to offer better value for money and a friendly service. Yes, we take your purchases to your car. Who else does that??
