Update - 04/09/20 (see the Latest News page).
Due to the many enquiries, the shop is now open on a Saturday and Sunday 10-12. However, if you are making a special journey to us, please phone before you travel to the allotment shop to check that it is open.
As I'm sure you will understand that for everobody's safety social distancing guidelines are to be adhered to.
Swiss Cottage Allotments would like to thank all its customers for it's loyal support and the many kind messages received during these uncertain times. Also we would like you to know that the many popular characters at the shop are all still well.
Stay safe and hope to see you soon.
We currently have no vacant plots. If you want to be added to our waiting list please email your name and phone number (mobile phone number preferred). We will contact you when a plot becomes free.
Limited access to the shop
There is limited access to the shop on an 'as is' basis for plot holders only. This limited service can only accept correct monies (no change available) and will operate when either Del, Mick, or Alan are on site. This service is been carried out as a 'gesture of good will' from the persons named above. Please respect their safety and abide to the social distance guidelines.
It is with regret that due to Coronavirus we have made a decision to close the shop until further notice. Please do not make a phone call to the shop as it will not be answered. However you can email Swiss Cottage if you have a query.
For guidance on keeping safe and protecting others from the virus while visiting your allotment, please see the guidance notes on our 'Latest News' page.
If you have a plot at Swiss Cottage you are welcome to visit and follow the guidelines set out by the government, social distance etc. We are also requesting that you wear gloves/wash or sanitise your hands when opening and closing the gate and using the padlock.
As the government are reviewing the situation on a daily basis, it is expected that plot holders will abide by any restrictions issued by the government.
Swiss Cottage is an Allotment Association just off Ascot Drive in Derby. The site has a well stocked shop with car park that sells everything from seeds to specialist fertilisers. The site covers 4.8 acres and accommodates just over 60 plots. Water is available through the summer months from taps dotted around the site. This site was established in the 1950s.
The Allotments are situated at the end of Sandown Road next to Ethiprint Ltd. Each plot holder is issued with a key (upon receipt of a deposit) as Swiss Cottage has secured access at all times outside of the shop hours.
Members of the public and plot holders from other allotments are more than welcome to join with an annual membership fee of £1.20.
